This client was looking for a modern dining table with a very minimalistic aesthetic for their new home being built in Northern Colorado.

The base consists of four legs shaped like the number 7. The legs feature hand-cut full-mortise joinery for strength.

It is rare that a client comes to me with a fully realized conceptual design, but this was one of those exceptions.

The final touch on this design was to “suspend” the tops above the base, adding visual depth below the glass and giving a visual “lift” to the dining table.

The walls in the entryway were not parallel, a detail which inspired a lot of freedom to create a bench and coat rack that echoed the asymmetry.

Having lived at the coast for most of their lives, this family asked me to design a table which would allude to their beloved coastline.
