MY CLIENT WAS BUILDING A NEW HOME THAT WAS STRONGLY MOUNTAIN MODERN IN ITS STYLE.  BOLD, HEAVY DETAILS with A LOT OF METAL, WOOD AND STONE.  and GROUNDED IN NATURAL TEXTURES.  The furniture design reflects those details and contrasting textures.

THE DINING TABLE is designed with A WATERFALL MITERED EDGE, GIVING THE ALREADY SUBSTANTIAL TOP AN EVEN GREATER VISUAL WEIGHT AT 3 INCHES THICK.  THE BASE design mirrors architectural timber details in the home, and is MADE FROM BLACK STEEL WITH WALNUT ACCENTS.  EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS DESIGN is substantial, ENDURING, and SOLID.  It is LARGE ENOUGH TO COMFORTABLY SEAT 12-14 PEOPLE, as HOSTING, ESPECIALLY their FAMILY, IS A HIGH VALUE FOR THIS CLIENT.  THEIR HOME AND FURNITURE REFLECT THAT VALUE.

THE BAR DOWNSTAIRS needed to seat up to 8 people, but be narrow enough to be comfortable in it's space.  This piece  ALSO LEANs INTO A substantial AESTHETIC, BUT WITH A LITTLE MORE SUBTLETY in the base, which is very narrow in relation to the dimensions of the whole piece.  In order to achieve good stability, the steel on the column extends into a wide footprint at the floor, and supports the footrail.  THE BASE AND ACCENT STEEL IN THE TOP HAVE A HAND-PATINA FINISH.  THE SIBERIAN ELM adds WILDNESS IN ITS GRAIN PATTERN, IN CONTRAST TO THE SMOOTH STEEL.
